House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said Republicans will conduct their own investigation into the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) rejected two of his picks to serve on the select committee headed by Democrats.
Pelosi vetoed McCarthy’s picks of Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Jim Banks (R-IN) but approved the appointments of Republican Reps. Rodney Davis (IL), Kelly Armstrong (ND) and Troy Nehls (TX).
McCarthy responded by backing out of the committee altogether.
The minority leader said Wednesday, “We will run our own investigation.”
The American people deserve answers, McCarthy added. “They don’t deserve politics. They don’t deserve destroying the institution. No committee in Congress will work if one person is picking all who can serve.”
