Florida doctor and marijuana entrepreneur Jason Pirozzolo has come under scrutiny after reports that federal investigators are looking into a trip he and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) allegedly took to the Bahamas, attempting to determine if female escorts who went on the trip were illegally trafficked.

After CBS News reported the development on Wednesday, Pirozzolo’s connections with other Florida Republicans surfaced on Twitter and in subsequent news reports.

Orlando Sentinel reporter Ryan Gillespie noted in a tweet that Pirozzolo was with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and his wife when they greeted then-President Donald Trump in Orlando in 2019.

Newsweek reported that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had “appointed Pirozzolo to the governing board of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority,” which oversees Orlando airport. The appointment came on Gaetz’s recommendation, the outlet noted.

In his capacity as a GOAA board member, Pirozzolo greeted then President Donald Trump and Melania Trump on their arrival in Orlando on June 18, 2019, alongside Governor DeSantis.
