Fox News host Sean Hannity appeared to be rooting for Russian President Vladimir Putin during his show on Thursday as he attacked President Joe Biden’s cognitive ability and said Putin is “openly mocking” the American president.
Earlier on Thursday, Putin said he wanted to “invite President Biden to continue our discussion, but on the condition that we do it actually live. But with no delays, directly in an open, direct discussion.”
According to FOX Wilmington, Hannity said of Russian president’s remarks that Putin “is openly mocking the president of the United States for his own amusement, and frankly, I find it, as an American citizen, humiliating.”
The “Hannity” host mused that President Biden’s occasional references to Vice President Kamala Harris as “President Harris” constitute moments of honesty.
“After all, Kamala Harris has taken all the solo calls with world leaders and is holding weekly meetings with the secretary of state,” he said. “Maybe this possibly could be the Harris administration after all.”
Hannity then asked: “Why would Vladimir Putin immediately call for a debate with Joe Biden with no time to prepare? What have I been saying? … When you compare Joe Biden to 2012 and even 2016, Joe Biden looks extremely weak, frail, often confused, and, yes, he is struggling cognitively. It is obvious. This is not brain surgery.”
“All of America’s enemies, all of the world’s hostile actors, they are seeing what we are willing to talk about openly. About Joe Biden struggling, kind of a shell of his former self from years gone by, who’s working clearly very hard to get to the weekend.
“Hell will freeze over before Joe Biden is ever allowed to debate Vladimir Putin. Why? Because Vladimir Putin would clobber him in any debate. That’s sad,” Hannity said.
Fox News has long amplified Russian disinformation about Biden’s mental health, a campaign the Kremlin has been engaged in for nearly two years.
ABC News reported in September:
The Department of Homeland Security has found that Russia is spreading disinformation regarding former Vice President Joe Biden’s mental health, according to a DHS bulletin obtained by ABC News.
Russian actors are spreading “unsubstantiated allegations” that former Biden is of “ill-health,” the DHS bulletin says, and speculates that “this narrative will resonate with some American voters and reduce their confidence in him as a candidate.”
The bulletin says the current effort has been ongoing since September 2019.
“Russian covert and covert influence actors posted negative commentary and unsubstantiated allegations about the poor mental health of Biden. For example, proxy websites have claimed that the candidates gaffes are symptoms of dementia, that he is mentally unfit for the presidency, and that he is unlikely to serve his full term due to his age,” the bulletin reads.
