Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said Tuesday that President Donald Trump cost himself the state’s electoral votes by sowing doubt about absentee voting.
In an interview with WSB’s Justin Gray, Raffensperger said Trump “would have won by 10 thousand votes,” adding that “he actually depressed, suppressed his own voting base.”
The secretary of state said 24,000 Republicans who voted absentee in the primary failed to cast votes in the general election.
“Either they didn’t vote absentee because they were told by the president, ‘don’t vote absentee, it’s not secure.’ But then they did not come out and vote in person,” he said.
